About Terroir Talking
Terroir Talking® is a portfolio of essays and curated images exploring our relationship with nature through the life within wine. The name combines terroir, the French word for the natural elements that contribute to the outcome of a wine, with the idea that nature is speaking—we only have to listen. Experiences in vineyards and landscapes around the world, and conversations with the people who care for them, confirm our interconnection: humans shape nature and nature shapes us too. This is how Eco-Innovation joined Reflections and Spotlights as a part of Terroir Talking’s journey of observation and hope for a sustainable future.

I am a research-based storyteller and creative director with more than thirty years of experience as a brand strategist and designer across luxury, lifestyle and wine worlds. I translate complex ideas into meaningful and memorable communication.
Ethos Priorat, a book I wrote, photographed and designed about the Priorat wine region, explores the life within the region’s wines from vineyard to cellar: The rhythms of nature, the history of the people and the evolution of grapes into wine. The experience revealed how essential balance between people and nature is to ecological regeneration.
My father spent forty-five years walking the same path along the waterfront in Sausalito. Every spring when the herring were running and the bay filled with fishing boats, or when his favorite flowers were in bloom, he would marvel at the sight as if seeing it for the first time. I think the purity of his wonder shaped my own love of nature. After creating Ethos Priorat, I realized that what I thought was the life within wine speaking to me was actually nature, through wine, all along.
Today I bring that same immersive approach to regenerative and nature-aligned innovation. Extraordinary technologies often risk being lost in technical language, just as wineries sometimes overlook the value of a deeper ecological story within their wines.
My process always begins with research. I like to understand every aspect of a subject so that when I am in the field everything I see and hear has a reference point for deeper inquiry. Genuine curiosity, careful observation and attention to detail guide my process. Living and working in Spain, and traveling around Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, has introduced me to the nuances of local cultures and landscapes, giving depth and context to my perspective.
At the core of every project is the belief that humans shape nature and nature shapes us. I collaborate with wineries, climate innovators and creative teams to communicate their stories into brands and narratives that people connect with. For wineries, my experience with viticulture and wines around the world helps define what makes a wine unique and memorable. For climate innovation, it means making technical ideas clear so their impact can be understood. My goal is to support and celebrate the people and projects working toward a healthy future.
